Long live the Reds!!

My gaze was fixed on the goal keeper Dudek and I was praying ‘Please make Shevchenko miss it’ and then I felt numb.Wow what a game and such a fitting finale.Liverpool were champions of Europe. This was in 2005.

I really cant remember watching many/any matches before the one mentioned above , though , even if I had it was all about this classic encounter that made me take a keen liking towards football – the bestest game ever. I became a huge Liverpool fan that day and once a Red always a Red.There is something magical about Liverpool. The fans , the anthem (its the most inspiring one) , the Kop and especially the players.Steven Gerrard is God and his amazing football skills put aside hes such a good ambassador for the game.He was magical then and he respun it all over West Ham during the FA cup final. One has to watch his goals atleast 3 times to let the feeling sink in.I have lost count of the number of times I have seen Liverpool’s matches and it gets better and better every time. Alonso , Carragher , Gerrard , Kewell , Kuyt etc etc are simply awesome. The kind of comebacks they have made makes you believe in fairy tales.

With the football season kicking off again , I am fingers and toes crossed for my favourite club. That also means I would be seeing more of Kaka – who is playing great right now apart from Christiano Ronaldo but there is something about Man United that just puts me off.

PS : If possible watch the Ac Milan vs Liverpool 2005 final. It would give you butterflies in the stomach even today. The anthem is like a 12th man for the team.

When you walk through a storm
Keep your chin up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams
Be tossed and blown
Walk on
Walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Forget Liverpool, they’r too untactical, forget Arsenal, Henry is out. Forget Chelsea, its all money power. ManU’s the team this year! I hope they do well and take all the three cups this time around. With R power, i’m sure they’ll do it!
    Long Live ManU

  3. Namrata says:

@Karan – I think Chelsea are a good team under Terry.Man U was phenomenal during Barclay’s but they are just not a team I identify with.Ferguson sucks. Gerrard just tears down their defence.

As for money power well with a new owner Liverpool have been doing a lot of summer shopping too.Lets hope for the best.

I ws an Arsenal fan, but lately since Henry, Lunjberg and many others left no longer interested in Aresenal. I joined Barca Fan Club, They got the best strikers [ Messi, Henry, Ronaldinho… ], But talkin abt EPL [considering the fact that Henry is no longer in Arsenal] I decided to support Liverpool [because Gerri happens to in my World 11 team] and [also “Man U and Chelsea Sucks”] 🙂 Peace!

  6. Karan says:

@Namrata.. get real buddy, Fergusson’s the highest paid coach in the form.. and not for nothing. His leadership abilities and knack of getting the best talents are amazing. Thanx to the buying Liverpool’s been doing, I think they are in with some chance.
@Prateek, seriously, a combo with Messi and Ronaldhino .. and add Henry. Awesome 🙂 Lets see how Barca fare this year.. Their chief opponents, Madrid dont have Beckham!

Great!!! A post finally. Nice one tho I haven’t ever followed football league matches. I am trying to start recognizing some of the good players. No favourites yet. Will let you know when i get into the sport. 🙂 Went to see a baseball game yesterday tho. it was slower than test cricket!!!

  8. well …. cisse is also in the cue .. his power in striking drives Liverpool all the time to victory accompanied by Gerrard , Alonso etc … eagerly waiting for the English premier League to start … its on August 11th ….coming to Liverpool crowd , it is meant to be the noisest crowd [:D] (about 65% of the crowd in 2005 championship belong to Liverpool ) …. have to wait and see who wins the title [:)] ….. Keep Blogging !!

kya baat hai soccer pe post !!
I support Barca … but was rooting for AC Milan for the finals….
Kaka is the player to watch …. not a great supporter of Liverpool …..
but somehow they play great in european cup ; I guess its the most successful english
club….but when it comes to premier league it doesn’t have a great record.
    Manu rules the roost…..

  10. sashidhar says:

Aah! With Henry gone, EPL is now passe. The action will now shift to the Spanish Premira Liga! All one can say is Barcelona will kick ass!! 😛

  11. Chand says:

  13. Cannabis says:

Shevchenko plays awesome! He single handedly took Ukraine to the next leg in world cup 2006. (Though the thrashing by Spain was a torture)

If you really love the game, watch the match between Argentina and Czech Republic in world cup 2006. Argwntina won the match 6-0 !!!!! 😮

I became a fan of Messi after watching that game………………… not forget the 24 passes which were made before the goal was scored!!! The goal which Rogriguez scored was also awesome!! and not to forget my favourite, RIQUELMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! 😛

  14. Cannabis says:

But in many ways World cup 06 was bad for many nice players…. Some of your favourite players like Gerard, Kaka and others like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo all fizzed out during world cup. Seeing their all could say was WTF!! 😛

  15. Maruti Borker says:

Same here even i was a Liverpool Fan but from the time Micheal Owen left the team i lost intrest in the whole game 😀
